operating under the name of "Cave Heaven".
Having
done our cave training in northern Florida, we
came to the Riviera Maya in the Yucatan Peninsula
of Mexico to dive the incredible cave formations
of this region. We are NSS-CDS full cave instructors and, when not guiding certified
cave divers or teaching, we dive for fun in the
cave systems of the Riviera Maya.
We
decided to pursue our instructor rating with the
NSS-CDS, which required a two year period of internship
assisting other instructors so as to gain experience and learn from the best cave
instructors and explorers of the Riviera Maya, Steve Bogaerts and Bil Phillips, reference points for cave diving instructors:
Steve, who has already carried out the deepest cave diving exploration and survey in the Rivera Maya (400ft/129mt), last year found the connection between the systems of Sac Aktun and Nohoch Nah Chich.
Bil is a legend in the Riviera Maya, a primary explorer of too many cave systems to list and an awesome source of cave diving knowledge.
